Hi Everyone ,
Sorry to be a bore coz I have asked this before but do any of you
hypo sufferers get bouts of dizziness.I have had dizzy spells on and off for the last 7 yrs -since before diagnosed.I have recently had my levothyroxine increased to 125mg a day and am hoping that this will make me feel better as I have had almost all of the recognised symptoms again. My doctor seems uninterested so I am going to ask to be referred to an endo as I have not seen one yet. I have found all of your messages very informative and helpfull -also very interesting !At last I have someone to talk to who understands xx Hopefully I will get to chat to some of you in the chatroom .Couldn't stay awake till 2am last night(I am 4 hrs ahead in Scotland).Keep up the good work and love to you all !

Hi Shona,

I'm going to bump your post up to see if anyone has any help for you.

Have you checked into going to the endoc. yet?

Chat is very late for you but we'd love to have you there if you can stay awake.

I have terrible dizziness, getting worse each week. Yesterday, my doc prescribed Meclazine. She's waiting for my endo appointment on April 23 before prescribing meds. She said I have an inflamed thyroid from some sort of illness, but she doesn't know what. Well, I took the full dose last night, and I woke up with a splitting headache, then as the day went on today, I was not only dizzy but incredibly sleepy also. One of the warning stickers on the medication says "may cause dizziness." Then why the heck am I taking it??? I took half a dose tonight, so we'll see how that goes.

Good luck to you!

My Son had been expierencing a lot of dizziness last January-May! The only thing they determined was his heart rate was very low at times. The dizziness comes and goes now and I notice its usually when he's overdone and or dealing with alot of pressure. All of his cardio tests came back fine. We eventually contributed it to "another thyroid sympton" honest depending who you talk to there always seems to be some new sympton out there. Good Luck... Trish

Thank you so much for your reply. I too was prescribed a drug which had dizziness as a possible side effect ??? but my doc is adamant it has nothing to do with my thyroid .I disagree with this as it started at the same time as my hypothyroidism. I get my latest blood results on Tuesday (after having my levothyroxine increased again!) I'm also going to ask to be referred to an endo as I can honestly say I have never felt as bad as I do now. Hope you feel better soon .I'll let you know how I get on.xx

Thank you for your reply Trish.Sorry to hear your son suffers from this too.Hearing from other people who get this symptom has helped me so much. At least I know it is a symptom of my thyroid problem because my doc doesn't seem to think so!! Maybe I'll have better luck with an endo.I'll keep you posted xx.

I've been getting dizzy spells off and on lately. It seems that when my "labs" are off, is when I get them. I just got the results of my bloodwork back and they are normal, but my endo is decreasing my Levoxyl & adding Armour. I'll let you know how it pans out.

Don't you love it when the medication you're taking has the possible side effects of what you're supposed to be treating?

I had never heard of Armour until I found this message board. Your doctors seem to understand a lot more over in America! You know we don't even get to see our lab results over here in Scotland. We only get contacted if there are problems with the results. I asked for a copy of my lab results last week and was told they'd never been asked for that before-I am getting them though! I'll watch out to see how you get on . xx
