Anyone else take this stuff? Its really just tincture of iodine and he told me to take it 10 drops in 8 ozs of water 4 times a day. But its kind of strong so I've been diluting it further. Its just that it gives me a taste in my mouth thats not the best (not the worst thankfully) and I'm going to the bathroom constantly from all the water I'm drinking.

Has anyone else taken this stuff and is there any better way of taking it where you don't taste it that worked for you?

Just curious...what are you taking this for?

The surgeon prescribed it as a kind of surgical prep. He said its supposed to help control bleeding and I'm also guessing that it might act as kind of an antiseptic since the thyroid takes so much of it up (just guessing though)

One way of controlling bleeding is a really easy one. I did it when I had my tonsils taken out in my 20's which has been known to have lots of bleeding with. I'm now 40 and looking at having the thryoid surgery sometime in the near future. I go to see the surgeon on May 7th.

Take jello gelitan(sp) and mix it with warm water enough to dissolve it and drink it every day till time for your surgery. It will thicken your blood and you won't bleed as much as one normally would during surgery. I have had seveal diffent surgerys over the years and each time I have done this and everything was just fine with no excess bleeding.
It really amazed my doctors when i told them why....LOL

I would make sure though that this wouldn't interfere with the meds the surgeon has you own though. you wouldn't want to thicken your blood to the point of it clotting when it shouldn't be....
