Weird results again--maybe pituitary?

Well, I posted the last time that the thyroid scan didn't happen because they said my uptake was so low they couldn't get an image of the thyroid. My doctor wanted me to come in the next day and talk to her, but I had a press conference already scheduled (I work in public relations at a large university) and I couldn't see her, but she insisted I come in and at least see one of the other MDs in her practice. So, I took a 7:50 a.m. appointment and went to see the other doc, who didn't seem to know much about what was going on with me but she did order more blood work and prescribed something for the dizziness I've been having (the meds made me a total zombie--I took it twice and I HATE IT, would rather feel dizzy and awake.) That was on Friday. So on Monday this week, the office calls me and tells me I need to come in again because of my test results. This makes me frustrated because I am already scheduled to see an endo later this month, and I have already been in three times to this doctor's office, and they can't tell me anything other than they don't understand my results. This time, the results were:
TSH: .01 (?)
T4: 1.4
T3: 179

So I made the mistake of looking up my ranges online, and the search engine hit upon a bunch of thyroid cancer sites but also some for pituitary tumors. In fact, one said specifically that low TSH with low T4 is usually caused by a pituitary tumor. I'm scared--but trying not to show it to my family. We're going on a short, 3-day vacation Monday, and I see the doctor Thursday, so I'm trying to put it out of my mind. I am so dizzy and I have constant headaches and a feeling of pressure in my head. Has anyone here had any experience in this area?

Help!

Hi southernbelle_1,

I'm not that familiar with the pituitary area so I don't know if any of your symptoms would be related to that.

I don't know about pituitary, either, though I spent some time looking it up after I got my own weird results. I have a fairly low TSH and T4 (not as low as yours) and high T3. I had some dizziness, low blood pressure, hypoglycemia, panic attacks and the usual fatigue and body aches. In my case it was a combination of hypoadrenal and hypothyroid.

I don't know of course if this has anything to do with what you are going through, but sometimes it helps just to have something else to think about so you aren't always thinkinga bout something worse.

I hope you can enjoy the next few days in spite of worries, and have an answer soon.
