pregnant and hypothyroid

Hello all,
I have two questions I would really appreciate any feedback you can help me with...
I am lucky enough to have gotten pregnant with my second child despite being hypothyroid but my doctor wasn't tracking my T4 and when I finally read somewhere that it should have been checked we found out it had dipped considerably during the second trimester, he doesn't think this will be a problem - we have now rectified it but I don't know how long it was low - is it too late to do anything for the baby now? - should I be watching for any mental diabilities?
Secondly I have been reading that after giving birth when you have a thryoid problem things like hair loss and depression can be a lot worse...I had quite a hard time after my first child was born ,which was when I first found out I was hypothyroid. It was a rough 2 years. Strangely however I have been feeling better emotionally and have been mentally ' back to normal' ever since I got pregnant again- friends and colleagues have remarked on the difference...I am now scared what will happen when I am not pregnant again - I would love to hear any stories so I know what to expect and any tips how to get through it,
Thank you

- is it too late to do anything for the baby now? - should I be watching for any mental diabilities?- I would be watching for mental abnormalities anyway but I'm a worry wart lol. Things are probably fine and since you found out that you needed more medication you are taking it right? I think you are both covered. It would be a good thing to tell the pediatrition anyway after birth.

-The symptoms of being post-partum and hypothyroid are pretty similar. Hair loss, weight gain/loss, mood changes, not getting enough sleep, all symptoms of both (just off the top of my head). Keep your thyroid levels in check after pregnancy and also tell your doctor everything your feeling. Don't think that post partum depression is something like a right of passage to just live through. Your doctor can give you help for a short time afterwards so you don't have to suffer. Just fill him/her in on everything and you should be fine.
