Question about "FNA"

Hello everyone...

I am new to this board but not being hypo. At the beginning of April, it was discovered (through ultrasound) that I have a 1cm mass on the right lobe of my thyroid. As a result, it is recommended by both my Primary Care and Endo/thyroid specialist that I have a Fine Needle Aspiration aka biopsy. The endo recommended someone for the procedure. I already have a general surgeon assigned to me through Tricare due to some stomach problems I had. I have a colonoscopy scheduled and I am tempted to have the general surgeon do the FNA at the same time vs waiting until May 22 to see the specialist recommended by the endo. My question--do you have any recommendations about who I should have do this procedure?

Thanks,
Cris

Hi Cris,

Welcome to our board.

I'm not sure what medical specialist others have had for their FNA, but my endocrinologist did mine in his office.

I had mine done @ a large hospital in the Breast Cancer area where the head of radiology did the FNA with ultrasound guidance .. my nodule was 1.9cm's ... @ this particular hospital I got immediate results .. I didn't know it or I would have had somebody with me.
