I went to see the endo yesterday, and he said he reviewed my antibodies and that I don't have Grave's. He thinks it's pregnancy-induced thyroiditis. He said my brain has shut down my thyroid and now we just have to wait and see if this condition reverses itself. He said nothing about giving me meds in the meantime. His only solution for helping me feel better was to tell me to cut down on the stress in my life (but with a full-time job, an 8-month-old and a five-year-old, that's a little hard to do). I felt frustrated because he implied that some of it may be in my head. He said he didn't know how many symptoms were caused by the thyroid and how many were caused by stress. Well, isn't it his JOB to find out?? What the heck is he getting paid for, then? He did absolutely nothing but feel my neck (which was tender when he pressed) and chat with me about reducing stress. I wanted to cry! I have always worked well under pressure, but not when I feel weak and tired and I have headaches and dizziness ALL the time, and I fluctuate between freezing and being constipated (sorry, TMI) and sweating profusely and having to run to the bathroom...sometimes I just don't have the energy to move. I have always had stress and didn't feel like this. I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG. He repeated several times, "Well, you definitely have a thyroid problem, and your thyroid is inflamed," but offered nothing constructive! I feel like crying now just thinking about it. I go back to my general practitoner next week. The endo wants to see me back in six weeks. I am really, really tired of this--I just want to feel normal again. I have to admit, with my headaches and dizziness, I am scared it's something worse, like a pituitary tumor.

There are a couple of things in your post that jumped out at me. The bit about stress in particular - and saying you 'work well under pressure' - and having to run to the bathroom a lot. By this last, do you mean you have to pee a lot? Even getting up at night more than normal?

I'll check back later, but right now my husband is actually determined to get through some of the list of things around the house that I've been asking him to do, so I'd better go :)

I think my doctor reads this board. He called Monday to tell me that he had just reviewed my latest labs and is sure I have postpartum thyroiditis. He said the TSH is undetectable and T4 is very low but free T3 is slightly high. He said I am hyperthyroid, but With one level low and one only slightly high, how is that possible? I'm not sure what that means exactly. Strangely, I have strep throat and the morning after one dose of zithromax I felt awake, energetic and happy. I know it's an antibiotic and shouldn't impact energy or mood, right? Today my heart rate is slghtly up and I'm starting to feel tired and anxious again.

Thanks for the words of support.
