Elevated TSH, but normal T4?
| Tue, 05-01-2007 - 1:32pm |
My doctor just called with my lab results from last week. They took blood and checked my cholesterol and T4 levels. Both came back within normal range.
I will see my doctor this Friday. I'm just wondering what he'll say or what questions to ask him.
I just read that if you have elevated TSH, but normal T4, then you're it's considered to be "subclinical hypo". This means that we probably caught it in the nick of time and the hypo is in its early stages.
BTW, my TSH level was only 6.95, so I guess that's just slightly elevated.
I do hope that my doctor sheds light on this and keeps me on the levothyroxine until we run more tests to see if it's helping.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Kim

Hi Kim,
As you have already seen, you can have one test be normal and another one out of range.
