My thyroid story

I was on here a few months ago because I went to my physician for a cold and he found a lump in my neck. I went for an ultrasound and they said there was a nodule in my thyroid. Even before I could have my FNA biopsy, I drove myself nuts on the internet reading horror stories. My husband banned me from using the internet. Still, the worrying took over my life. I went for the biopsy which turned out inconclusive but it was a follicular tumor. My ENT told me I should have a complete thyroidectomy. I went for the surgery on April 23rd. I'm not going to lie, I was in horrible pain afterward. The sore throat went away after about 4 days and right now I am pretty much back to normal. My voice still needs to get back to 100%. My scar actually isn't that bad.
The results: they found 2 cells that were cancer, but it is such a controversial outcome that they don't consider it full on cancer and I probably won't have to go for the RAI because that could be overtreatment. My doc said he will let me know next week but he says most likely no because in everyones book I'm cured. Still scary that I "had" cancer inside me.
I realized the importance of listening to my doctor instead of going all over the internet. The internet had alot of bleak outcomes for something that I've heard from various doctors, nurses, pathologists is the best cancer to get if you are going to get it.
I wish you all the best in your thyroid care.

There were about 6 sites that I heavily relied upon during my 9 weeks' wait and after my surgery.
