Tests keep coming back "in normal range"

Hello,
I am 33 years old and just had my blood work done to check my thyroid levels. This is the 3rd test I've had in the last 6 years. My mom has hypothyroid and my grandma did too when she was alive. I take after my mom (physically). I keep gaining weight and cannot lose with exercise, cutting back food portions, and drinking water. I am tired a lot and have no energy. What I'm wondering is if anyone else had this problem and then later found out through other tests that they really did have an underactive thyroid.
I went to an endocrynologist one of these times.

Thank you,
Amy

Hi Amy,

Welcome to our board.

From what I've seen and heard, you can have "normal" test readings and still have a problem with your thyroid.
