Just wondering how much your thyroid medication dosage changed after either having a partial or total thyroidectomy done. This would of course be a ? for those who were on meds prior to surgery. I am currently debating having a total thyroidectomy for multiple nodules, I am currently taking .50mcg of Synthroid and doing well on that dosage.

Thks,
A.

Hi partyoffive2003,

Welcome to our board.

I was not on meds prior to having my right lobe removed so I can't help you with your question except to say that my left lobe took over just fine and I did not need meds to help support it.

All thanks for the responses!

Bunny, curious as to why the total thyrodiectomy after such along period of time?? I too have nodules and wonder whether it is better to just have the thyroid removed and be done with it or continue to follow up frequently for the rest of my life and wonder if I will develop cancer. I have Hashi's.

Thanks,
A.

Thanks for the response, I am glad to hear that the cancer was caught and hasn't shown back up again!
