My husband was diagnosed with hyperthy a few years ago, before he even met me he was taking synthroid for it.  Lately (the last 6 months or so) we have been noticeing though that he is ALWAYS tired, he says even when he wakes up he feels tired, and he could come home from work and sleep straight from the time he walks in the door till the next morning.  What is wrong with him?  Is fatigue a symptom?  Anyone else struggling withthis?  TIA!

Is your husband still on synthroid? Was he diag. with hyperthryoid (overactive thyroid) or hypothyroid (underactive)? The reason I ask is I believe synthroid treats hypothyroid. I have been both myself first I was hyper and now am hypo. The symptoms you describe sound like hypothyroidism. When I was hyper you are exactly that hyper, can't sleep, anxiety ridden. Before I went on my meds for hypothroid I was very tired, had muscle/body aches, much of what it sounds like your husband is now. When was the last time he had his levels checked? My first advice is to start there and have him get his levels checked. If he was originally diagnosed hyperthyroid like I was, the thyroid can burn itself out and you can become hypothyroid like I am now. This is what my endocrynologist has explained to me. Good luck and keep me posted on how he's doing!

Hi Christa,

Welcome to our board.

If your husband is on synthroid, he must be hypothyroid which means his thyroid was working too slowly.
