Hi, new here. I have toxic multinodular goiter, and have finally decided to have RAI. The endo is telling me that there's a good chance that once the nodules are "turned off" that the normal thyroid tissue will get back to work. When I did my uptake & scan, only the nodules absorbed iodine. So the thinking is that the nodules will do the same with the RAI.
Has anyone done this? Heard of this happening? Lots of people I know with Graves are telling me NOT to have the RAI, that they are sorry they did. Since I'm not in the same situation, I don't know what to think anymore. I have been on PTU since last fall, and I do not like the side effects at all. I've stopped taking them now to get ready to have the RAI next month, and most of my original hyper symptoms are coming back quickly.

Hi madtay111,
Welcome to our board.
I'm also one with a multinodular goiter but have not had it treated with meds or surgery or RAI.
I had RAI last July and feel much better. Everyone is going to react differently, so I chose to go with my gut. I have no regrets at all. I am tired, but I was also very tired when I was severely hyper before the RAI.
