Could I possibly be hyper? Please Read!

Hello,
So for the past 6 yrs, I've been told that I could have hyperthyroidism. I've certainly exhibited classic symptoms such as weight loss for no reason, feeling hot, irregular/light periods, etc.
Only problem is every time T3/T4, TSH have been tested, it's come back normal or borderline but not quite there.
A few mos ago, I got tested yet again with the same blood tests even though I still had those symptoms. Yet again, my levels were normal. But...
I've also lost so much hair- shedding all over my couch, losing clumps while showering, etc. And, since last week, I've had this persistent chest pain every day just randomly hitting me. Well-meaning friends think it's anxiety but I'm not nervous about anything except of course why I'm getting these chest pains.
I dragged myself to the clinic near my apt and they at least did an EKG - came back normal (unconfirmed diagnosis). But, I've gotten these random chest pains since I was 17 so this dr. referred me to a cardiologist for an echogram (I hope).
The thing is I've gotten these chest pains for as long as I remember but this time it's been every day out of nowhere. I've actually had about 3 doctors in the past ask me if I've had EKGs or echograms and that I should. That tells me there's something they're noticing that I'm unaware of.
I read somewhere that chest pains can also be a sign or symptom of a thyroid condition.
I'm hoping to find out something on Monday, when I go to the cardiologist but what do I do if in fact this turns out to finally be hyper? Go to yet another doctor like an endocrinologist? And the beautiful part of all this is that I'm one of the 40+ million American without health insurance living out of state while going to law school.

Hi benilaw,
Welcome to our board.
Even though your test results are in the "normal" range, we have learned that you could still have a thyroid disorder.
Hi benilaw,
Before I found out that I had Graves Disease my hair was falling out, my heart was just a racing, intollerable to heat and many more symptoms. My first endo was a crack. I to am among the 40 million that doesn't have any insurance. I let my fingers to the walking as I did the talking. I can't tell you how many endo's I talked to before I found my current one. I would explain to them that I was a cash paying customer and would like to know what kind of discounts they offered. Some didn't offer anything. Some gave 15% discount, while others only took insurance customers. Like i said I eventually found my new endo and see her for $50 bucks a visit. Something I can handle. The same with blood work. Call call call. You'll eventually find something.
There are alot of doctors out there who only treat the numbers like the pp posted instead of the symptoms. That's why it's so important you find a doc that works for you. One who will listen. I hope that you find some answers at the cardiologist.
I'm sorry you are feeling like this and hope you get better soon.
Take care
Kim
Financially, I'm not too concerned b/c my parents will help me out without a problem
I'm just tired of going to doctors and getting nowhere but paying a lot.
I hope it's nothing other than good old fashioned stress (today I actually was not in that much pain, thank God)
The only reason I suspect it's my thyroid is that I have just about every symptom of hyperthyroidism at this point.
