Waiting on Dx - while I wait?

Hi, new here. ( I lurk on other boards some) Ok, I finally broke down and went to the Dr. yesterday after 2 weeks of being miserable and going to the ER last Friday - because my Dr. was out. I have been having the following symptoms: hair loss, sore joints, swelling hands and feet, agitation, getting hot and sweaty for no reason, not sleeping, lack of concentration, change in appetite, and heart palpatations and the muscles in my upper neck tighten up now and then. Anyway, I am trying to keep this as short as possible (but I think I need to vent too) - My Dr. said I am classic thyroid issue - and she felt like I may have a goiter or possible thyroid storm (since I have had these symptoms in the past and they would go away after about 2-3 days) - and no other Dr. took me serious by the way since blood work was always fine - she sent me for an ultra sound this morning and took blood yesterday. My biggest question is I know that I will know something in 2-3 days, but what(if anything) can I do to help relieve some of these symptoms? Right now my muscles in my throat are all knotted up and my fingers feel like they have been slammed in a car door and I am tired but probably won't be able to sleep.
Any advice would be welcomed - not to mention just making friends that have some of the same issues.
Hope everyone has a great night.

Hi Kimmie Kay,
Welcome to our board.
I'm not sure that you can do anything about those symptoms in the next day or so without some kind of treatment such as meds (Tapazole or PTU if hyper).
Calley,
Thanks for the info. No, I have never ended up in the ER before last Friday with these symptoms, just went to my Dr. and at that time they said either female hormones or stress and told me to deal. Which I have done until this time - it is very different - can't get the palpations (hovering around 120 and was as high as 135 earlier today) to subside and now I am even running a fever - can't wait til Monday when I can find out something.
Until then I am going to take it easy and stay close to home. Thankfully this Dr. (actually an Nurse Practicioner) sees determined to help me. :)
I may try and join chat sometime.

Hi Kimmie Kay,
What did you find out at your appointment?
Calley,
Thanks for checking on me. I have been reading posts, just have not had the time to get on and write. I went for my ultrasound and then they sent me for a scan and I have been diagnosed with a multinodular goiter. They are sending me to an endo. Who can't see me until November 28th. The bad part is that I am still miserable and loosing my hair left and right and having trouble sleeping. (my daughter has even had to wake me up some when start coughing and choking) Which I have never had an issue with before.
The nurse said the only way for me to get in sooner is to go to an ER that is in my insurance group and tell them about my symptoms and that I have the multinodular goiter and that I am already scheduled to see an endo and then they will have to see me sooner. But I hate to do that because for one, it is another bill to have to worry about and I guess if they thought it was more serious they would get me in sooner. I don't know what to do, I guess wait and see and go to ER if I need to before then. Today has been a rough day, we went camping and this am when I was doing nothing more than reading and my heart started racing really bad and I felt really weird and I have not done much more than drive home and take a nap and while napping it started racing again and I am having some trouble swallowing too. I don't know - it is so discouraging to feel bad and know that you have to wait to go to the Dr. They did not start me on any meds, told me I have to go to the endo first. Sorry this is so long.
Hope things are well with you. Where do you live? I am is SW MO.
