I think I'm going through what you went through. I just had my first baby this past May. I wasn't diagnosed with hyperthyroidism during my pregnancy, though. I felt normal for being pregnant but only gained 23 pounds. I ate healthy, though. When my baby was about 2-3 months old, I started feeling aches and weakness in my muscles and short of breath with minor activity. My OB said it was my body recovering from the c-section, but it continued. My PCP ordered a thryroid scan and uptake after some abnormal bloodwork. The tests showed a very low uptake (1%) but the scan showed an overactive thyroid gland. My endo in confused and said something got messed up somewhere. Now he says I need to do it all over again but that I should have the RAI if I want more kids. He won't even talk to me about meds. I am really confused and upset because I really don't want the RAI in case my body will regulate itself, don't want to have a weight problem, and can't stand the thought of being away from my baby. I am getting a second opinion on Monday. Any advice or input? I'm on propanolol which is helping somewhat in the meantime.

Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy,

I'm going to pop in here and agree with you about getting a second opinion.

Did you have any problems with your eyes bulging?
