Hi malyfycent,

Welcome to our board.

We do have some links to thyroid information and surgery and I'll list those for you.

Hello.....I had my whole thyroid removed 1 year ago !

The surgery itself, was not as bad as I had anticipated...yes my neck was really stiff & moderatly sore. My voice was a crackly whisper...which I told was normal...as my Dr told me, the vocal cords don't like being messed with!

I am scheduled to have thyroid surgery on October 18, next Thursday for hyper Graves disease.. I am quite scared and nervous about going hypothyroid and those effects. Did anyone have partial thyroidectomy that did not need meds and was cured? I want my doctor to do a partial instead of total but now doctors are saying that many peole either go back into hyper again or still go into hypo so whats the difference

Hi I am having the surgery on October 18 next Thursday I just stumbled upon this site wish I would have earlier. But a few questions: how are you dealing with the hypO now and was it difficult for the doctors to regulate it? Do you know any good surgeons in New York? Which did you think was worse to deal with hyper or hypO?
