Trying to lose weight to join the AF

Hi:

I decided to join the AF for the OTS, and when I finally decided to sign up I found something you have to be fit in order to join (I thought it would be just a matter of doing all that stuff required situps/running/pushups but NO!

Well I am 5'8'' and 190lbs and the recruiter told me today that I have to be less than 164lbs. So thats 27lbs that have to go.

I work out, go to the gym 4 times a week.

1. 30 mins of cardio (stair machine / bike/ walking)alternate during days

2. 45mins-1hr of weights (i work out a major group each day - alternating too)

That sounds good according to me - i could be in shape with all that exercise, BUT i love eating everything (from coke, candy, chocolates, cookies, well all that junk food - i love that - guess i have to be apart from that for a while or for good)

I have a problem with my knees, so I cant run or lift much weight when training legs. But Ok, I decided that I want to lose that weight and then apply to the AF!

Ok, I think I can lose those pounds in 2 months approximately, what do you all think? Could it be possible?

If you have any advice please let me know!

Hi Stargirl and welcome!

Good to see you here and wow on joining the AF. I think it would definitely be a good thing to be as fit and healthy as you can be before joining. :)

Sounds like you've got your exercise in place. :) Actually by loosing some of that weight, you may find your knees won't bother you as much. Just sort of a side benefit-smile.

How's your water? Do you drink at least 64 oz. a day? That really helps and even burns calories if it's good and icy. :) We have a water challenge going on right now. :)

Ok, sounds like food is where you need to work. We hear you on all those goodies. I'd say most of us are slowly cutting out the junk food, high calorie stuff and substituting healthier choices. Just cutting back to recommended serving sizes helps a lot too. There's all sorts of info on our website. You'll find it, *Healthy Choices* up on top of this page. :)

Just my opinion but I think I'd consult with my Dr. for loosing that amount of weight in two months. Perhaps he/she can recommend a nutritionist who you'd check in with to help. I had a friend who did it that way.

Hope we see you here again, the support's wonderful! :)

Well, about the water I just drink 1.5L the days I go to the gym, but the other days I can say I drink that of Coke, so thats BAD i know!

I just talked to the recruiter today, and he said that I have to be below 164 at the start I thought that if the application process took around 2 or 3 months then I could lose that weight, but he said I have to be below.... by the time I take the first test!

So, I just have to sit around and wait!! while exercising LOL - without any goodies :( of course!

I used to have a good diet that my trainer gave me and I lost some weight, I dont know how much I am not a fan of the scale! So, I knew I was losing by the way my clothes look, and my body changes! That lasted around 2 months.. after that I just got bored and tired of that/ and I had lots of pressure in school, so I couldnt took my snacks every 3 hrs.

So, I think I will ask tomorrow my trainer see if he can help!

Thanks for your support!!

Well, I need tons of support - I didnt tell my bf about this - it is so embarassing, I am in a LDR and he asks about my job seach, and lately about my ideas of joining the AF.

Luckyly today he didnt ask - he was very tired to ask! So, I just told him I was having 2 apples for dinner because I was on a diet - and he said me too, I just had a pizza!! (on a text message to his phone)

Ok, Ill be around since I got no job, no school, not much to do!

Thanks a lot!

Yes, I been looking for a job for the last couple of months, I graduated this may, I have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, plus NO working experience and a low gpa!

Bad start to find a job... I have applied for like 100 jobs and I havent received any response, that is why I thought it would be a good idea to join the AF after I received some information on the mail, flyers they usually sent to everybody!

So, if you know also about any job let me know!

Ive tried the boards for the resume/job searching... but they arent very good - no support from that people in there! It is amazing that boards have like 10 or 11 new posts every day and others like the sex boards get like 200 daily!

Ok, thanks for listening or reading AGAIN!

Good deal Stargirl. :) Lots of support here. When my son graduated with a similar type degree, jobs were hard to come by also. It took a few months but he got one he's been very happy with. :)

Ok, I see Hugs has responded to you. And did either of us mention up top here, we have a great website Hugs did. Look for *Healthy Habits* and there's lots of great tips. See if you can put yourself on the map.

Great to have you and we'll see you tomorrow raring to go! :)
