Trying to lose weight to join the AF

Hi:

I decided to join the AF for the OTS, and when I finally decided to sign up I found something you have to be fit in order to join (I thought it would be just a matter of doing all that stuff required situps/running/pushups but NO!

Well I am 5'8'' and 190lbs and the recruiter told me today that I have to be less than 164lbs. So thats 27lbs that have to go.

I work out, go to the gym 4 times a week.

1. 30 mins of cardio (stair machine / bike/ walking)alternate during days

2. 45mins-1hr of weights (i work out a major group each day - alternating too)

That sounds good according to me - i could be in shape with all that exercise, BUT i love eating everything (from coke, candy, chocolates, cookies, well all that junk food - i love that - guess i have to be apart from that for a while or for good)

I have a problem with my knees, so I cant run or lift much weight when training legs. But Ok, I decided that I want to lose that weight and then apply to the AF!

Ok, I think I can lose those pounds in 2 months approximately, what do you all think? Could it be possible?

If you have any advice please let me know!

Hi Stargirl, Reading your post I have absolutely no doubt you can obtain your goal weight especially if you are truely motivated to achieve your new career. It will be a lifestyle change cause you will have to keep the weight off forever. Go to it NOW!

You say you do 30 minutes cardio. I would up this to at least 45 minutes and make it hard enough to really push yourself almost to the limit!!! Weights are great but like Hugs and Golly say keep the water up as it gives you a full feeling. Weight sessions make me STARVE!!!! Swimming is really good especially if your body is a little sore from weight bearing exercises etc.

Do some regular classes. Exercising with others really does keep you motivated and takes your mind off the "pain" lol!! Actually pain is not a good idea! Making a commitment to regular classes helps get rid of that "I don't really think I could be bothered today!" Your friends are waiting for you. Don't let them down!

This place is great. Looking forward to hearing how you are going. Hilary

Just a little update:

I been on a diet since wednesday (3 days, I just have like 100 more days to go LOL)

And today I talked to a trainer at my gym, that usually flirts I asked him if he could help and he said yeah!

Well his answer to my question was:

Me: I want to ask you sometihing.

Tavo: Oh! You are going to ask me if I want to be your boyfriend?

After that I explained to him the situation and he was helpful, gave me a new diet, and on monday he is going to give me a new routine! I been training on my own for 2 months now.

He also said: Oh! You know how I am, and I dont want to lose our frienship if I start training you! I just said of course you wont!

I am not interested in having a "friendly" friendship with him, I want him help me to lose 30 pounds! And He is married with two kids.

Ok, Ill keep you updated!

P.S. I tried to do the water thing to post, but everytime i am going to something happens, i hope i can start doing that next week, i been a little busy these days!

Hi stargirl,

Wow you have been busy!

Good idea to keep your trainer as a *professional relationship*

Do hope he helps .. that is great he has given you other exercises.

As for the water challenge .. whatever works for you .. you can keep track on a note at home and post all at once if that is easier ..

Being busy is good

Have a great weekend :)

Hi Stargirl!

Good to see you back. :) Hope you had a nice 4th!

>I tried to do the water thing to post, but everytime i am going to something happens, i hope i can start doing that next week, i been a little busy these days!

**Just keep track and post when you can. :) The main thing is to drink that water, at least 64 oz. :)

Boy you have been busy! That's great you've found someone who's willing to help with setting up a diet and exercise program for you too! Yes, I'd definitely keep it on a professional level.

Do keep us posted hon and great to see you on your way to being fit and healthier. :)

I have learned that if you drink alot of soda try diet I know it sucks but I lot 20lbs in 2 months. Diet soda and drastic reduce sugar. The doc says low carb to lose weight but it was too hard for me. Great job on the exercise wish I could do it

Hi Stargirl, Sounds as it you are "on your way!" Well Done! and you are absolutely right to keep that trainer at arm's length. You don't want to do anything that would make it embarrassing to go to the gym etc. You have work to do!! Aren't men a pain sometimes! Hilary

I used to drink like one or two 20oz. bottles of coke everyday! So, I am now just into diet coke or iced tea (unsweetened).

20 lbs in 2 months!! that sounds awesome - i hope I can do that too..!

What else you did to lose that weight? Workout - stopped eating other type of food - what else?

let me know OK!

Thanks!
