I hate the word skinny!

I have always been thin with an athletic looking frame. I just turned 29 in May and look much younger. I've even been turned away from R rated movies because I didn't have my driver's license on me. I have never obsessed about my weight and maintain muscle tone only through casual activities like walking, swimming, kayaking and volleyball. I eat only when my body tells me it needs food (whether it needs it 10 times or once in a day). My weight has fluctuated between 103 and 112 for the past 10 years and I'm a standard size 2.
AND I'M SO @#$%ING TIRED OF PEOPLE TELLING ME I NEED SOME MEAT ON MY BONES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand that much of our society is weight obsessed and that body image is a problem with young girls, but I'm tired of people attacking me. I guarantee I've heard the phrase, "You're too skinny," 100x more than anyone overweight hearing, "You're too fat." Both are equally insulting, yet it's socially acceptable to criticize anyone who is a size 6 or less.
I think I look great and am very comfortable with my body. My boyfriend loves it too and I'm sure that our sex life is so good due in part to my healthy body image. Every woman needs to understand that each body has it's own perfection. We are all different and beautiful and need to stop criticizing each other - size 2 or size 22. True health starts with love. Self love.

I totally agree with you. I have been small all of my life too & I will be 30 in March. I am a size 3/4 and people are always telling me that I am too skinny. I also agree with you that calling a thin person "skinny" is just as insulting as calling a big person "fat. I've always hated being called skinny. It's so funny because I always thought that I was the only one that felt the way that you do.
You are right; we all come in different sizes, but we should be loved just the same!

Hi silverpink,
Welcome to our board :)
I hear exactly what you are saying!
Women need to feel good about themselves regardless what others say or think.
Good for you on feeling so comfortable with how you look! It is about how you feel!
We come in all different sizes and shapes and need to be accepted as we are!
The end result is making ourselves feel good!
Glad you stopped by to share your thought!
Hope to see you again soon :)

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views. :)
I too was called too skinny for 1/2 my life. (I'd be right in fashion now-lol). It was just the way I was-no matter how they tried to fatten me up etc, I stayed a size 3. And the last time I was asked for ID was when I was 35 rofl. I could have kissed that guy. ;)
