I hate the word skinny!

I posted this in the diet and fitness section also, but I feel really strongly about this, so here goes...

I have always been thin with an athletic looking frame. I just turned 29 in May and look much younger. I've even been turned away from R rated movies because I didn't have my driver's license on me. I have never obsessed about my weight and maintain muscle tone only through casual activities like walking, swimming, kayaking and volleyball. I eat only when my body tells me it needs food (whether it needs it 10 times or once in a day). My weight has fluctuated between 103 and 112 for the past 10 years and I'm a standard size 2.

AND I'M SO @#$%ING TIRED OF PEOPLE TELLING ME I NEED SOME MEAT ON MY BONES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand that much of our society is weight obsessed and that body image is a problem with young girls, but I'm tired of people attacking me. I guarantee I've heard the phrase, "You're too skinny," 100x more than anyone overweight hearing, "You're too fat." Both are equally insulting, yet it's socially acceptable to criticize anyone who is a size 6 or less.

I think I look great and am very comfortable with my body. My boyfriend loves it too and I'm sure that our sex life is so good due in part to my healthy body image. Every woman needs to understand that each body has it's own perfection. We are all different and beautiful and need to stop criticizing each other - size 2 or size 22. True health starts with love. Self love.

**I'm afraid to say you are not the only one right now Mae Hugs

You surely didn't expect that this would slip through!! did you Hugs! Hmm, now that I've said that what next :-) Yikes, can't think of anything so you will just have to start loving yourself a little more from right now because I can't be on a board with an unhappy cl. Good Grief, if only I would take my own advice but then you have all seen this Aussie hit rock bottom. Isn't sharing great!!

It's getting late there - I just got the washing off the line. Incredible it dried in about three hours. Go figure, the middle of winter. I checked out a new supermarket this morning, yep it was full of food and I gave the snakes some water - have been putting it off for a week!!! I didn't get bitten so that has to be good. I just walked out to get the mail and a friendly resident blue tongue lizard is sitting just outside the front door! I would give it some banana but it wouldn't eat the whole thing and I don't feel like eating the rest!

Ds rang again today!!! I'm cracking up, he misses his Mum (love it). They are in a hotel in Las Vegas!!! I am not sure how they did this considering they were near the Grand Canyon yesterday but......oh, well, there goes what's left on his credit card!

I really am so happy at the moment it is a little scary. The crash will come, always does. I think it is not having to deal with the day to day stuff for a while.

So I bet you all really wanted to hear this little bit of chatter. Luv ya Hugs! Hilary

**That's soo great Hilary! Yes, a break from all our daily *duties* (no matter how much we love our family) can really be renewing. :) Enjoy it!! You deserve it. :)

Thanks. It's so funny that in this thread my post was taken as something up for discussion and was all about loving who you are. I posted the same thing word for word on another board and am being slammed for sounding defensive. Variety really is the spice of life! LOL!

**And that's the truth. :)

I'm sorry you got slammed on the other board but glad you came by here to share as it brought out what I think is such an important concept-"loving who you are." :)
