Yup, this is how I heard about it ~~ when I got my daily Deb's at work:)

Shouldn't have put my sad face under Chuckles & Grins, just hearts.

He wouldn't want ANYONE to be sad about his passing, I don't think.

An aside here I just remembered....Jimmy, my dh, has a claim to fame as far as Mr. Hope goes. He's out of pocket at the moment, but I THINK the story goes that at least

ONE year Hope came to Birmingham to play in a golf tournament. Birmingham

boasted an excellent blind golfer that Hope knew (the gentleman lost his

eyesight in the war, and held a celebrity golf tournament here every year).

Anyway, as I ramble:), Jimmy was a cop at the time, and got to drive Bob

around during his stay. This may have happened more than 1 year, but not

sure. It's one of those stories I have heard countless times over the years..LOL

(know what i mean?)

**What a wonderful story! How lucky Jimmy must have felt and will always feel!

An excellent memory for him.

Wow, Stel, that's amazing. What a privilege. The guy was great! My Dad's favourite. Did he used to have a Bob Hope Show on TV. I seem to remember my Dad watching it a hundred years ago. He was "one of a kind" that's for sure. On reflection, if any more stories or tales come up let us know. Hilary
