Do you or don't you ..

Have you ever .. Did it help on how you ate?

Does/did it help when you go do the marketing?

As always *inquiring minds* want to know

>>Do you or don't you ..

**I did for this coming week .. Most likely I will for the next couple of months.

>>Have you ever .. Did it help on how you ate?

**I use to all the time ..

Then when I was working full time two years ago we had one but barely followed it, LOL ..

Slowly as the guys got busier I stopped as they were never around :(

So I have not for about a year or now .. We use to always have a menu up on the frig .. loved it too!

However my oldest DS said he missed it, can you believe that

So it's up there right now cuz he asked for it

I find we are able to eat together more now than before because we can work around their work schedules most of the time .. So, it's up and ready and now the meat for Monday is already defrosted .. I'm good

Yes it definitely helps how we eat, LOL .. We eat much bettr by having one JNHO

>>Does/did it help when you go do the marketing?

**Oh yes for us it sure did

Bought less and we bought healthier foods

WOW - - you are on the ball!!

I have a general idea about what we'll be eating during a week period, but I don't in general determine in advance daily meals - - I do decide sometime early in the day tho, and that is helped along by this boards meal plans. . . keeps me from waiting till 5:00 to decide.

What I do is just decide the type of meals, for example fish one night, chicken one night, pasta and salad one night, , that kind of thing so that we get a good variety of stuff during a week period.....but what night we have what is usually up in the air.

Yes, it does help when shopping - - but, we shop every few days anyhow for produce and perishables so we are still at the store a lot.

When the kids were here, I used to have a little *menus for the week* white board where the week could be wiped off for the next week. Now we don't though I do have sort of in my mind what we'll have. It is varied...chicken one night, beef the next, fish, pork etc.

During the winter when I don't like to go out as much, I'll try to plan for the whole week but during nice weather, I go to the market about twice a week to enjoy the fresh stuff + we always seem to be out of something important (to dh, anyway ).

My life is such that there is no need for planning meals. The shops are within walking distance. If I am cooking for visitors which is hardly ever I will plan a menu. Hilary

*I think you are so very lucky to have shops right there in walking distance hilary!

Sure wish I had that here .. I am envious ..

As for the not needing menus .. kind of a good thing I think

Sometimes I will pick 5 or 6 recipes for the week & just buy the ingredients necessary for those recipes. I don't think that it saves money though because you always end up having to buy some seasoning or weird vegetable that you never heard of that makes the total grocery bill about the same.

It is *a lot* easier though when you have the recipe ingredients right in front of you. It feels like you're cheating when you don't have to *think* about what to make. That part is already done for you & all you have to do is buy the stuff! ;o)

Much love ladies,

We usually decide about an hour before we eat--but I have a very large pantry and freezer!!so everything we need is always there
