Hello new here.

Hello I am a 22yr old female from Ohio. I have a few questions. Because I am new I appologise in advance if this is the wrong place for questions like this and please let me know where I can find a more appropriate place to post this.

I am 140lbs, 5'6. My goal(s) are:

a.) Weigh 125lbs.

b.) Have a flat tummy.

c.) Learn to eat healthier.

d.) Figure out what kind of exercises/routine(s) would work best for me.

e.) Try hard to stick with it and not slack off.

I do not consider myself fat or obease by any means but I do have a tummy that I feel a little uncomfortable with and would like to fix it to my ideal look/weight. As you can imagine with my last goal, I have a hard time sticking with it. *shrug* If there is any advice, sites, info., anything that would help me with my gaols and hopes, it would be much appreciated.

Again, thank you in advance. :)

*hugs*

Erica

Hi Erica,

Welcome! I am like you, trying to find advice and support on getting healthier, and hopefully lose a little weight. I gained about 5-7lbs in the last 4 months, and since I'm short 5'2", it really shows. (Started a new relationship and it seems all we do is eat out). I've started counting calories each day, and I do Tae-bo everyday after work for about 25 min. It's slow going, but I'm hoping this will help me fit back into my old clothes by the end of the summer.

But the people on this board are wonderful, and very motivating, so hopefully, they can help support you in meeting your goals!

Good Luck!

Thank you for sharing Hillary. I'm glad to see I am not the only one with similar goals.:) That is another thing I've meaning to ask.

1.)I am not to farmilliar with the callorie intake thing. (I know I am clueless. :( and I get sometimes confused by it. ) What exactly do callories do? And in my situation, what should my ideal callorie intake be?

I have noticed on this entire site, the women here are so understanding and helpful. I have been trying for a long time to find a MATURE forum board that deals with all sorts of issuse that this site provides for and then some. I am very happy as well as touched for who ever made a site like this. :)

But anyways Thanks again Hillary, for sharing and giving me an idea of what I could try and do to help change and acheive my goal(s).

*hugs*

Welcome, Erica ~ you mentioned the word *mature* for this board...well,

no comment on *some* of us . but you seem like a mighty mature 22 yr

old:) Pssst..I was talkin' 'bout the *over 40* crowd here

As far as your calorie question, one of our 2 cl's will probably be able

to provide you with a good link later in the day.

You really will get excellent support here, and many have managed to

lose some pounds along the way. There is a spot for posting your

water intake, food intake, & exercise every day....helps if you make

yourself accountable in trying to reach those goals of yours.

Again, glad you found us, and we're glad to have you aboard:)

Hey, you're sure welcome. I am new to this calorie counting thing too. I just had an exam last week so I asked my doctor about dieting, and all she told me was that gaining and losing weight is all about how many calories you consume in a day. So if you're body uses 1200 calories a day to function, you need to eat less that than to lose weight. But your calories also should be balanced between carbs/fat/protein. She said a good balance would be 60/30/30 carbs/fat/protein. Does everyone else agree with this? I have no idea if she's right or not, but I decided to try it.

I think someone on this board should have the link to take you to the site that figures out your BMI and how many calories you should be consuming each day? I think mine's between 1200 & 1300 so I'm trying to stay under that each day, and exercise a little. I'll let you know if it ever starts working! ;-)

Hey gals, on the front page of this board, there is a link called

"HEALTH CALCULATOR". You fill in your personal info & it calculates

your BMI & your recommended daily calorie intake, etc.

You might wanta play with that a bit for some help.

Just a thought:)
