Low in saturated fat?

Saturated fat is my #1 weekness. I have a hard time eating anything without cheese on it and I love creamy sauces, meat, butter and oil. I'm working on cutting down a lot and staying within my daily value. The problem is that I'm having a hard time finding foods that are actually low in sat. fat and still have great taste and fill you up. It's like I forgot that you can even eat a meal or snack that doesn't have a lot of it. Any ideas??

**Hi Maegan, One thing I always do is read labels to make sure the saturated fat level is as low as possible. For creamy sauces I always use extra light cream/sour cream or lo fat milk, for meat I always trim off as much fat as possible, for chicken remove the skin, butter, well NOTHING tastes as good as real butter so only have it as a treat rarely! (avocadoes are "good fat" and make a good butter substitute.) As for oil, I use cooking sprays, usually olive oil which is good for you.
Good for you on trying to cut down on saturated fat. It really is easy when you get the hang of it. As for snacks there are many in the supermarket, popcorn, baked not fried chips, wholewheat crackers etc, muesli bars. Just check the labels. Hilary

**Good for you on wanting to cut back on the saturated fat! You sound like my dh who seems to love it too. Without him really knowing it, I've got him to the point of eating slightly less fatty meats, skinless chicken, 2% milk, less oil in the pan for cooking (I now spray it on instead of pour)but I won't mess with his (or my) butter. I just use less.;)Olive oil is good for you and I've found different ones have slightly different tastes. I don't even feel the need to add *oil* to *vinegar and oil* anymore since I started using basalmic. :)
Here's an article that might give you some ideas. :)
