I am for the first time in my life overweight. I am recently divorced and I had a baby last year. 40 pounds too heavy. I do not even know where to begin.

Welcome to our board, Culljon ~ I think you've made a GREAT beginning

by posting here. You've taken the *First* step of what we call "baby

steps".

For this evening, check out the "Healthy Habits" website. You should

find some good info there. For your concern, i.e. weight loss, I think

you will find that if you *report in* in the daily "exercise and more"

threads, the accountability factor will be a big help.

Read some of the posts here, and get acquainted with *us* ~ LOL

We're really a fun bunch, who give support whenever needed, & laughs

as well, as we are all on the same journey towards getting "Fit & Healthy".

Feel free to vent all you want ~ and Hugs, one of the cls, has tons of kinds

of cheese to go with any whines

C'mon back tomorrow....bet you'll have even more welcomes. Many have gone

to bed by now ~ 'cept for our CA gal & our Aussie gal:) And...you *might*

even hear from our 2 cl's tonite....never know

The best start is to find where your problem is--to do that the best thing you can do is write down everything you eat (what -how much--when). Also write down (at the end of the day) just how much activity. You can do this on paper and here on this board--there are a few of us who have been fighting this battle and we know what we have done wrong but even when we slip there is always encouragment (never criticism) here to get us back on track. The 2 CLs are the greatest and if you read enough here you will find we share more than just food and exercise etc. and we always find the support we need.

Plus we always manage to have some FUN too!!!!!(VBG)

Please join us--we would love to help

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Barb is right. Before you take any steps you need to see, on paper, what all your routines are. That's the ONLY place to start. With a baby it's tough, but start by increasing your physical activity immediately just by walking a bit more or using stairs instead of an elevator. A great place to start is by buying a pair of Nike ankle weights - they'll run about $25 - and you can wear them whenever you are on your feet: grocery shopping, diaper changes, at work, just not when you're driving. It's an excellent place to start working out everything from your tummy down, which is where post pregnancy weight is a problem. It'll prep you for more intense exercise and toning later on. The best part: you'll see a change right away!

Hello to you. I am glad to see a new face. As it has been said we all have issues (weight, smoking, speaking for myself pure lazy is an issue) I do agree on finding you problem if you decide to write all the food and activity down also write down how you are feeling emotionally as well. I know when my moods go crazy so does my diet. Knowing that allows me to plan it out if I wake up feeling down dont buy junk food cuz I will eat it all. If I am happy and want a sweet I can buy m&ms cuz I wont eat all of them as I would on a PMS day. I also recomend getting used to drinking lots of water if you dont already.

Again welcome to our hang out spot.~Mary~
