Help. My wife and I are expecting our first child in March. My wife is very sensitive to sugars and white refined flours. But of course her diet that removed all that makes her nauseous and its very difficult for her to maintain her diet. She gets down on herself for "not having the energy to do anything, like exercise, she's always tired, eating wrong things that makes body feel terrible," etc., etc. All the advice she get is "well, your pregnant, eat what you want!" which she will shoot the next person in the face with a bazooka. What can I do? She wants to eat right for her and the baby and not gain the 100 lbs.

I need some help to help her...anyone?

Hi glassen,

Welcome to the board and congrats on that baby due in March! :) If I've calculated right, she's got about 6-7 months to go. :)

>>But of course her diet that removed all that makes her nauseous and its very difficult for her to maintain her diet.

**If it's any encouragement, morning sickness (it was evening sickness for me) usually leaves sometime after the third month. :) During this period, perhaps as long as she eats things that she likes that also have some good nourishment, she's at least getting in some healthy food. I'm assuming her Dr. suggested a good vitamin for her. :)

I think pregnancy differs with different women and during different months of it. Some can be very tired at the beginning and end of it and need extra sleep. :)

I can't think of much you can do other than encouraging her and telling her how beautiful you think she is pregnant. ;) Hopefully she'll eat the correct portion sizes and keep it pretty balanced. Drinking water can be good too. Usually for most of us, that's about 64 oz. but she might want to check with her Dr. on that now.

Here's a whole section on pregnancy in iVillage where you also might get some answers.

Here's wishing for an easy pregnancy and a beautiful experience for you both. :)

Hopefully she will get over her nausea seeing as she is in early pregnancy. I dont see why she cant have some whole grains, rice or a potato. None of those are refined.I ate whatever I wanted and gained 50 lbs..but we all are different. Just make sure her diet is high in folate which you get from green ,leafy vegetables. It is good for the baby!! Good lucK!! mel

Mel,

Thanks for your feedback, the issue with the white flour and leafy veggies is that it makes her more nauseous, therefore she avoids it. Her favorite dish "was" basimati rice, tomato and avacado, spiced with Braggs Amino Acids, Zip and Light Olive oil, now she can't stand the taste of it, nor anything warm.

I do encourage her to walk, that she look beautiful, to consult her when she gets depressed, but it doesn't work. And I get into the trap of feeling frustrated because, well, I am the man and I want to solve it, but it doesn't resolve anything.

Mel,

Zip is from the company Spice Hunter http://www.spicehunter.com/

Its our favorite spice and Spice Hunter is a great place for any type of spices you are looking for.

Thanks for the support and advice. I talked with my wife last night before bed and talked about the first 3 months and keep trying to find good food that she'll enjoy and not rely on the unhealthy stuff.

Thanks again.
