Hi nooniejackson,

>>I just need to find out what else can I do for my butt and legs. I currently do lunges (different styles), squats, deadlifts. I do run 3-4 times/week. It just seems like my lower body is never going to tone up like I want. I always do high reps with lighter weight.

**Sounds like you're doing some good exercises for your legs and hips. I'm wondering if adding some stairs or walking some hills might help? I'm sure others will have some suggestions.

Welcome to the board. :)

Good morning,

I was wondering about weight...I am currently 5'5" 122, 17% body fat. I'd like to be 117 or about 15% body fat. Do you think that is healthy? I think i look pretty lean now, but would like to be leaner (but definitely not underweight!!!). I walk or hike 60 minutes/6 days a week, and eat very healthy, except for the occasional cookie or icecream : ) Also, would I lose the weight on a 1400 calorie diet, or would 1200 be best???

Thank you!!!!

Janine : )

15% body fat is pushing the "too-lean" end of the spectrum, below that and you can stop menstruating, which isn't something you want, I think--you need to keep menstruating to keep your bones (and other things) healthy!

From what you describe of your BMI and body fat, you don't need to lose any more weight, and if you did it might not be the best for your overall well-being, know what I mean? You need fat to protect your internal organs, your body needs fat for proper hormonal processes, and you need fat if you want to do any endurance-type activity (say an all-day hike or a week-long backpacking trip), as you'll need more fuel on a consistent basis than you can eat.

I haven't seen 122 pounds since I was about 15, I'm your height, and in the low 20's for body fat (BMI <22), I can't imagine how thin you must be! If I were you, I'd keep doing what you're doing, but not try to get any smaller, you'll blow away in a stiff wind! ;)

Happy hiking...

Hi princessjanine,

I see Judie gave you a thoughtful response. :) I'm in the middle range of my bmi and it says all is well but when I put in the weight I want to reach (the lowest # for my bmi) I also get the same answer. You might try that. You can find the calculator in Hug's Website *Healthy Habits* up top. :)

I mainly just wanted to say *hi* and nice to see you. :)

hi thank you for your question, It sure sounds like you are doing a lot, you must be very particular and want to be like some picture you saw. You have to be reasonable with yourself , it sounds like you are doing a sufficient amount of exercise to your legs. how long have you been doing them? You don't want to overdo it either. Have you ever tried step class? email me at rhythmicrenee.dc.rr.com and I can talk further on this with you.
