Is there such a thing as too much H2O?

In my attempts to lose weight and regularly flush my body of excess sodium, I drink over 100oz. of water per day. Can a person drink too much water?

Hmmmmmmm....seems I need to be drinking more than the 64 oz, according to your rule
of thumb.
Saw your profile....glad to have such a *SMART* and obviously fit person with those
of us who aren't so fit..but trying to be... to help guide us on our journey

I heard the 1/2 weight thing before, so that's about accurate. I'm 5'10" with a large frame. I'm about 195 but I'm trying to get to 160-165 to reach my ideal weight. Drinking 100 oz. per day is on the money.
Have a happy one...

I'm Suzan from the PS healthy Living board :
There is the condition hyponatremia which can occur after excercising over 4 hours or so and results from consuming excessive fluids...and not replacing lost sodium. Here are some links:

Of course, it would be more apt to happen to atheletes, they must be really careful what they drink, how much they drink and when they drink it. :o)
Just wanted to second what Stel said judie. :)
>>I kind of wish I'd gotten into all this before I hit my mid-20's, I could have had a great time before I started working my life away! :D
**Aww, well you've got lots of years to benefit from what you've learned. Enjoy! :)
