South Beach Diet

Hello Ladies! Alright, well I'm sure that most of us have heard of this "new Atkins" diet called the South Beach Diet, right? It makes a little more sense than Atkins and let's you have at some carbs (hooray for bread & chocolate!). Anyway, I've tried this kind of diet about a year ago, and it really did work! I lost my extra 10 pounds under 2 months. But here's the thing... it doesn't seem to be working anymore. It's like my body is so accustomed to it that it doesn't want to let go of the last 3 pounds I need to lose. I know that 3 pounds is not a big deal, but hey, if I follow this strict diet I need at least some results. What should I do to lose that vanity weight? I even started eating less, and it seems to be working, but I'm not so into eating ONLY 2 salads for the entire day. Any suggestions??

>>let go of the last 3 pounds

**You didn't mention if you do any exercise. If you only have three pounds to lose hec I would just up my cardio for a week or so and get rid of it quickly, then maintain on the diet if you must. Hilary

Hi jezebelsc,

Welcome to the board. :)

>>I lost my extra 10 pounds under 2 months.

**Good job! I'm so glad you found something that is working for you. :)

>>it doesn't seem to be working anymore. It's like my body is so accustomed to it that it doesn't want to let go of the last 3 pounds I need to lose.

**Are you drinking plenty of fluids and getting plenty of exercise? You might try upping your exercise a bit to see if that helps. :)

>>I even started eating less, and it seems to be working, but I'm not so into eating ONLY 2 salads for the entire day.

**Glad to hear you're not into eating 2 salads for the whole day. Depending on what's in them, that's probably not enough fuel to keep your body going. If it thinks it's starving, it'll try to store what fat it can-thus, even though you could be eating less, you might not lose any weight. Another thought is you just might have hit a plateau and after awhile, the last three lbs will come off. Several of us here have hit plateaus for a few weeks and then started to see results again.

Perhaps others will have some more ideas so keep checking back and let us know how it's going. Or join up with us on your journey to get fit and healthy. :)

Again, congrats on that weight loss and good luck on the last 3 lbs! :)

Thank you so much for all your quick replies! But about the eating less thing, for some reason, it feels good. Yes, I get hunger pains, but it just makes me feel so light and in shape. I feel disguested with myself after I eat... which may kind of sound like an eating disorder or something. Also, I have a pretty busy schedule so the only excercise I do are ab work-outs before bed... just a couple of crunches, nothing special.

Hi jez and welcome to our board :)

Sorry a bit late in repling ..

Sounds like what you have been doing has worked as you said ..

I understand those last three pounds can be frustrating ..

It has been said that ususally the last amount we want to lose is the most difficult ..

With that being said .. your body may have gotten accustumed as you say ..

I would be interested in seeing what others have to say as well ..

The not eating does not sound like a good solution .. JMHO of course ..

Let's see what others suggest .. and what you end up doing ..

Let us know :)
