The war has started and I'm excited (;) I ran out of cigs last night...so here we go. The patch is on. The good part is that on my third day I'll be at home...working my bum off so I can work through the craves instead of sitting in an office.

I want this quit so badly. I'm tired of being a slave to the butts. I don't want to poison my body any longer than necessary (cause I'll have to with the patch).

I keep thinking about what Tracy said the last time I tried.... I want you to love you...well Tracy...I'm gonna give it my best shot hon....This is a war with my self esteem. By god..I'm gonna win.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but, Mae, I tend to think Mel may be right...maybe it would be a 'safe' thing to do .....just here in the very beginning....that way you won't get a "surprise"......

Mel, I didn't mean it's weird I'd agree with you, You KNOW that!(vbg)

Mae - - you are doing GREAT!!!!!

I only want you to patch as an insurance measure.

But, if you are strong - - go for it - - - BUT, if you feel weak, don't you DARE pick up a cig....and if you DO, don't you dARE light it!!

Mae, this should be a happy time for you! You are taking charge and getting your life back. Stay positive....and have fun!

Keep us posted hun. We love you.

Thanks Tracy!!!!

You and Mel are right...my third days are torture....so I have put the patch on...wouldn't it be cool to just go cold turkey and not ever ever ever have a crave?????

Dreamin? Thought so (;)

I actually worked out a little bit too last night and it TOTALLY helped with a crave!! If I just drink (water that is (;) and work out when I have a crave, I should be skinny in no time (;)

Mae - the exercise is what saved me....I would get craves and the best thing in the world for me was to go wear myself out.

Mae - - just so you know - - cold turkey does NOT mean you have no craves.....it is true that the nicotine is out of the bod faster that way. I was clean of nicotine probably after just a few days...and I DID feel better....that Anxious belly feeling was gone - - which was Great - - but my Mind was still addicted.....see, most of it is mental, well, at least for me.....heck, you do something for 25 years, it's like not even knowing WHO you are anymore when you don't. Have to learn whole new behaviors. New ways of handling things. It's just different.

I'm glad you patched back up for now tho....the biggest thing right now is just to find something ELSE to DO. Work on that. What to do INSTEAD of smoking. You will get it...tell yourself you have NO CHOICE. Grin and Bear it and TRUST that it is ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER!!! because it IS! I can not tell you how much better I feel that I don't smoke anymore. I no longer have constant worries about what damage I am doing, I don't worry about getting some awful mouth cancer. The getting rid of the worrying ABOUT smoking is worth the quit on it's own....cause, for real, how much of your time (mental) is filled with gotta quit smoking thoughts? - - So now you are doing it. Just ride it out for a couple weeks and THEN you will really start noticing getting better. It's always ONE DAY/HOUR/MINUTE at a time. If you start craving - - POSTPONE!!! Ride it out...WORK it out. You can do this Mae. You HAVE to do this or you will hate yourself for Not doing it and your Goal is to be happy with yourself. Not smoking will make you HAPPY!! oh yes it will!(lol)

Holler if you need to...

xoxo,

tracy

>>This is a war with my self esteem. By god..I'm gonna win.

**Yes you are going to win Mae ..

It's the fight of your life .. Keep at it ..

We are all here cheering you on ..

You know you can do anything you put your mind to ..

If you happen to have a bad crave .. wait at least 10 minutes ..

Don't give in, find something else to do .. it will pass!

You are the *little engine* who could and will :)
