As I said I have been sick I finally broke down and went to the doc. She just opened her office last week.

It seems I have pneumonia and my asthma has been upped to severe.

The meds I need are around 75.00 a month for one and 35.00 month for the other

I have no insurance and only make 7.50 hr so I can not afford the stuff.

She is trying to set me up on a program called needymeds this can only be done by the doc

but if I am approved I will not have to pay for it. They are meds used to treat and prevent asthma attacks so I can only buy the stuff to get me better that was 20.00 today for the antibotics. I thought it was cool that she is going the extra mile to help me I have never seen a doctor do that in my life. so I wanted to share Giant hugs for the new doc.

Mary - - what a great doctor! I bet she's going to be able to help you out with that medication....there ARE some good docs out there and I'm sure glad you got in to see Her.

Do rest up. Pneumonia is nothing to fool around with.

Let us know what happens with the meds.

Take care Mary,

xoxo

Mary your post takes my breath away. How a system could come to the point that people cannot afford medication or to see a doctor. :::sigh::: Unbelievable. Our health system is far from perfect and in fact is rapidly heading the same direction but we do have a facility called "bulk billing" whereby doctors see patients in need for free.

Hope you feel better soon. Hilary

Oh I'm so glad you went to a Dr. Mary and not only that, a kind helpful one willing to go the extra mile. Was it possible for her to give you any samples. Some of the meds the Drs. tried on DH, they gave him samples to help defray the terrible cost. Oh I'll say prayers you doget on the program and you fight for it too if need be.

You'll be feeling better now soon hon. :)

She did want to give me samples but as I said it is a new office and the vendors have not been there yet so she has no samples she will call me when she gets some. She already did the paper work for needy meds. I must wait till the forms are sent to her for me to fill out. She said it mat take about two months before I actually get the meds but as sha said I have been dealing with it for years with out med so a couple of months are no big deal. Here is a interesting fact she told me.

You take a 70 year old smoker and a 70 year old asthmatic with out meds and their lungs are the same wheezing does as much damage as smoking sure makes me glad I quit. Now if only Icould quit wheezing I have been doing it for 30 years.

>>She did want to give me samples

**She sounds like a real keeper Mary and I hope soon the vendors find her. :)

There's some wonderful meds out there for the wheezing so I'm thinking positive on the two of you finding one that works.

You already sound better Mary! :) And oh yes on quitting smoking! You rock!!
