I know EXACTLY what you mean Mel...I Never thought about eating. I could work outside all day and not stop for lunch and come in at 7. Now, I have to have planned 'snacks' or I feel like I'm starving. It used to be, I'd smoke a cig. That and a Diet Coke and I was good to go. Now, can't do that.

>>I am excercising-doing lots of cardio

**This is why you are starved. Your body needs fuel. Just eat "healthy snacks" and keep away from the pizza lol!!! I know, about an hour after a weight session especially, I am starved. I end up eating three pieces of wholemeal toast for breakfast with a scraping of peanut butter.

What's the point, yep, you answered your own question :) Hil

**Perhaps since you are exercising more, burning more calories ..

Your body needs more to compensate .. what do you think

Just know you are doing the right thing Mel :)

**Do you remember Dish?

She used to eat 3 healthy snacks +3 healthy meals a day and said she really wasn't hungry.

I don't think she worked out as hard as you do though. I'm wondering if an appointment with a good nutritionist might not be worth it to plan with you enough calories for what you're doing and healthy meals so that you really don't feel so famished? Just a thought.

** I always go in the early a.m. so never eat beforehand, only have my cup of tea. This sounds "revolting" but I always push myself to the point of feeling sick and could not imagine going with anything in my stomach. I think if I was going later in the day I would wait at least an hour after eating. :) Hilary

During moderately paced activity the body is able to carry on digesting food and the chances of nausea or discomfort after eating is much less. But with more intensive sports, such as aerobics or running, the blood supply to the gut is reduced in order to send blood to the muscles instead. In this case the food is much more slowly digested, so it is more important not to eat (especially a large meal) for several hours before action.

Carbohydrates such as cereal bars, bananas etc. are the key - they provide energy in an accessible form to maintain blood sugar and glycogen levels, and are easily digested. You see tennis players eating bananas during a match. HTH Hil (got it "roughly" from BBC Health, Ask the Doctor)

Here is my trick to eating less when starved. Trick your body. Drink something hot before you eat. coffee, tea, broth, warm water(yuck I know) but it sorta fills you up a bit. you know two slices of PIZZA HUT not four (thats what i would eat if I could ) I love pizza I think it is almost perfect it has all four food groups but that deep dish crust will kill ya but soooo yummmmmmy ~mary~

ps great quit keep quitting every day for you and your family
