I hear ya Mel!I often have these thoughts myself. Especially while eating pizza!! LOL!

And of course this is why we keep on keepin' on, isn't it? When we are in our 80's and still able to take short walks while standing straight and tall we'll be oh so happy we did this now. My dmil is 88 and still takes water aerobics and even Tai Chi...she is my role model since she has always exercised. And when we are that age we can eat all the pizza we want! ~~Cappy~~

It sounds weird, but you still have to eat to lose weight. If you don't eat enough calories, your body assumes that you're in a famine-type situation and stores EVERYTHING, fruits, vegetables, and oatmeal, as FAT. If you eat enough calories to maintain your metabolism, and work out, you can lose weight, work out, and still eat! I like www.fitday.com for keeping track of calories and looking at what you're burning during the day. For me to just cover staying alive, I need to eat 1300 calories. Everything else is an extra.
I could eat half my body weight in food, I swear! But if you time what and how you eat with when you're hungry, you can control it better. You do need to eat after you work out to replace the glycogen that fuels your muscles (carbs) and protein to repair your muscles (weightlifting breaks them down, they grow back stronger). I eat about five or six times a day, that's a Kashi GoLean shake for breakfast, string cheese midmorning, a sandwich and some fruit for lunch, 12oz of V8 in the afternoon, and dinner. I am hungry all the time, but if I can head off the hungries with a healthy snack, there is less binging later on!.
Good luck Mel, you'll get it figured out!
