Hi Mel,
I just make mine using fresh basil, olive oil and parmesan cheese (I don't have pine nuts). Then when the ravioli or noodles or whatever are done, I just mix the pesto into it. You don't need a lot (like with a red sauce) so experiment by adding small amounts at a time until you like it. :)
