Another week, another day, another dinner
Has the weather decided what you will have for dinner tonight?
Will be be a hot meal, a cool one, going out or bringing in?
Let us hear what it is ..  maybe someone else will have it too ..
Enjoy :)

**I was thinking I hadn't mentioned this before but one thing I am doing is if I eat a biggish lunch then I am telling dh and ds to fend for themselves for dinner ie. have leftovers or make their own I then have a can of lo fat soup. Last night it was beef and vegetable. You're right Hugs, YUM and the washing up is great!

This means that I cut out one big meal a day and the calories and fat in the soup I buy are not even a consideration as far as putting weight goes. I just needed to get to the point where I didn't feel guilty about not cooking for them every night, especially as I can't tell you how many nights ds doesn't turn up when he says he will. **There is a traditional recipe I guess (onions, potatoes, cabbage) but basically if you cook a baked dinner and have lots of leftover vegetables, such as potato, pumpkin, sweet potato etc you then put a little butter in a fry pan, fry up some onion and cabbage, then add the chopped leftover vegetables. You then flatten it down and brown it on one side, turn (it does break up) and serve. Dad used to cook it for breakfast and always insisted Mum cook plenty of extra vegetables!

The name is apparently due to the sounds that are emitted during cooking, the vegetables bubble as they are boiled and then squeak in the frying pan. Hilary

Oh my goodness, Hilary, I've never heard of it but I'm going to try it-sounds delicious and an adorable name to boot.
