Meal Replacement. Can you really replace a meal? The hectic demands of daily life sometimes leave us very little time to plan and enjoy meals which has resulted in a growing number of meal replacement options. Meal replacements come in liquid and bar form. Unfortunately, very few of them completely satisfy our nutritional needs. The downside of most "replacements" is that they lack fiber and phytochemicals - compounds found in plant foods that aid in disease prevention. Also, they don't provide the enjoyment factor that a "sit-down" meal provides. Attempt to plan and enjoy most of your meals and make sure you always have nutritious and tasty food available.
Health Tip
Lucky you. Being happy and optimistic can keep you healthy. Find ways to emphasize the positives, both large and small, in all aspects of your life. Be grateful for what you have and you will feel better about life as a whole. Be kind and considerate to others; random acts of kindness increase happiness. Find time to be with friends and family, it provides socialization and supportive relationships. Smile at a coworker or stranger, it will elevate happiness for both of you. Move; exercise is a powerful mood elevator. Rest; take time to "zone out" once in a while. Staying happy will also minimize your chances of catching a cold or virus.
