Here I go Simple simon in the kitchen

BEANS 101:::

put clean dry pinto beans in a pot with onion cut up add salt and water and boil slowley for hours till beans are soft chop up ham into bite size pices add to beans about 1 hour before dinner. Important lesson::: inspect each bean to clean. rocks can look like beans if you hurry the cleaning process:::~Mary~

Thanks Mary - - I've never done it with dry beans...I know you have to "inspect" them first but are there ever REALLY rocks in with the beans???

You've sure got our mouths watering for ham, beans and cornbread.
It definitely sounds like a great meal. :) So very happy you're going to have it. :D
I hope dh is a good pot watcher...I'd have to call mine to remind him. ;)

Making some grilled chicken breasts ,brushed w/teriyaki,baby lima beans and my oldest sons favorite rice ( Uncle bens converted rice--but in stead of the water in the recipe use canned beef broth and some butter--and BAKE it. It almost has an oriental flavor when done this way.You can get the lo-fat broth and use light margarine
