~Women and Heart Attacks~

This really surprised me and a good thing to be aware of. Women definitely have different symptoms than men.

This one hits home as my mother had heart trouble + a heart murmur and I do have the murmur.

Seriously so many symptoms are written off to all sorts of things. Best to have regular check ups with your doctor and make sure he knows your family history. My Mother a few weeks ago when she had her "mild" heart attack did not experience pain but similar symptoms as described in the article.
You are OK, right Golly?
I monitor my blood pressure at home and as I have said one of the main reasons I keep my cardio fitness up is to avoid taking medication for as long as possible. If my "fitness" drops off, my blood pressure rises. Hilary
Somehow I missed it, that's unusual .
**Lol, I miss a few too now and then Hil. ;)
Interesting on your mom's symptoms such as those mentioned in the article.
I am working on lowering my bp so I don't have to take the meds.
And the Dr. is watching and checking on me.
I seem to be following the pattern of my mom and she didn't do well on them.
This article seemed to come out just at the right time as a reminder. ;)

Since cold weather puts an extra burden on the heart, if you have cardiac problems or high blood pressure, follow your doctor’s orders about shoveling or performing any strenuous exercise outside. Even otherwise-healthy adults should remember that their bodies already are working overtime just to stay warm, and dress appropriately and work slowly when doing heavy outdoor chores.
This Aussie is off to play golf now in 97 degrees plus!! I am not sure which is worse for my heart, although I doubt I will ever have to shovel snow, oops sorry Golly, that word!!! Hilary

Very true about the cold weather and doing strenous activities ..
That is always on our news here espeically when it starts to snow :)
Have fun in the sun .. wear your sunscreen
There's lots of warnings here about such and still we lose a few each winter to shoveling.
Hope you enjoy that lovely weather and golf. :)
