Hi everyone!

My two week workout plan did not pan out how I expected. I tried a running plan, and was doing very well sticking to it just about every day, but I got quickly discouraged when I felt I was making zero progress. I'm not much of a runner, so maybe someone can help me out, but I'd start getting tired and bored after 5 minutes. I kept pressing on, but it was so super challenging and I just wanted to quit, but I kept going. Not enjoyable at all. Finally, after struggling to make it to the same 1.0 or 1.5 mile mark every day, I switched to walking. I don't know if I was expecting too much but I just figured I'd make more progress.

I have a new plan that I'm going to start on Monday. The cardio does have running in it, but it's mixed up with other stuff, so there's more variety. I think this will keep me more interested. I've got my weightlifting plan all set out, as well as extras such as yoga and pilates. I'm just scared that after putting all this work into my workout, I won't reach my goals!

The other thing I'm struggling with is eating. I do maintain my whole anti-diet thing, but I need to fine tune a couple things. I know drinking water is healthy for me, but no matter how healthy or how good it is for me, there are some days when I just can't make myself guzzle water at all. So, while I'm still not going to limit myself in the food category, I think there are many areas I can make improvements, and I won't miss what I'm getting rid of at all.

Anyways, it's a start! Another start.....lol

Hi Peeps,

Good you are still not giving up. When I first started, I just walked a lot outdoors and did the Leslies Sansone walks. Took me a year to finally get things moving. When I did different things again a few months later, my body did not like it but it made things move again. As you can see, it took me time, but I did not have the high expectation. I started the portioning in 2007 when I came here to Fitness and health and that moved things again. I did not eliminate what I enjoyed, I just divided them. If I used to eat 20 cookies in one sitting, I eat them but a little at a time throughout the day. At first it is hard but now I am used to eating this way.

I hope your new routine will work out for you.

Starting over is quite all right ..
Better than quitting or giving up altogether right ?
Keep in mind .. progress will take time & usually longer than a week.
How long did you do your running for ?
Were you eating well also ?
Patience . something we forget about
We all wish we could be where we want to quickly ..
However you know that's not how it works.
I am thrilled to see you will be starting a new plan.
As for your eating .. yes don't deprive yourself.
Portions/moderation is the key ..
Water .. can you drink tea ?
Any ways, be proud of you for switching it up & trying something else.
Can't wait to hear all about it :)

did you try running the full mile from the get-go?
most running plans have you start with alternating walk/run
working up to 20 - 30 min straight.
if it is to hard it is easy to get discouraged.
And remember just because you are running
you aren't guaranteed to drop the weight
food intake is a very large part of the equation.

Thank you all for your support! I'm actually glad I decided to take these few days off and re-evaluate my plan. My legs are so sore from the running!

Do I like tea? I LOVE tea! Especially herbal teas. Right now I'm on a peppermint tea kick. It's so refreshing. On Monday I'm going to buy a couple more at the tea store.

I've also decided to cut out the 18% cream in my morning coffee. I'm having espresso now. I really like the rich taste of espresso, but I don't like black coffee because to me it's too watery. I know it has a ton of caffeine but I do adore it, and it's one thing I'm not going to cut out!

In addition, I'm going to eat a lot more good whole grains such as oatmeal and cut back on the overly processed breads. I've also decided to cut back processed foods. It's not that I'm dieting, I just really don't like these foods and there's nothing good about them at all. I know today I'm going to be faced with some not so healthy fried processed stuff, but I'm fine with it, because it's not something I eat every single day anyways.

Well, I'm off to start the day. Have a wonderful weekend!

L - sounds like variety is just what you need.
And rest assured - if you put the effort into the workouts, you will see results.
