Linda Vongkhamchanh in her blog "TheNewsFeed" on NeverSayDiet.com discusses the latest news on genetic predisposition of weight and offers some insight and expert advice.
"The New York Times reported that obesity may have less to do with our lifestyle and eating habits than we think…
Scientists now believe that each individual has a genetically determined weight range spanning perhaps 30 pounds. Those who force their weight below nature’s preassigned levels become hungrier and eat more; several studies also show that their metabolisms slow in a variety of ways as the body tries to conserve energy and regain weight. People trying to exceed their weight range face the opposite situation: eating becomes unappealing, and their metabolisms shift into high gear.
Uh, come again? Did they just say that we’re all destined to be fat and there’s nothing we can do about it?"

Not blaming my parents for my being overweight at the time. It was all me. Although for many it can be genetics. Of course if I knew it was genetics, I would really pay attention and learn and start working on things early or earlier.
If it is genetics .. while it sounds easy .. not always, kwim ?
I think a person has to really want too as well :)
Yes I understand that with genetics, it is hard. You have to work harder and it will be like that all one's life.
Today's families eat even healthier than when I was growing up
Think it's important to do our best to be good role models for our kids :)
Thanks to those that took a peek :)
Hiya Hugs,
This is a topic I feel pretty strongly about.
A friend of mine had too much of her thyroid removed (it was very over-active & not responding to meds properly) & now she is on meds to compensate for the missing thyroid production & she is pretty chunky in spite of eating healthily & getting in exercise.
Yes I do agree it is all about choices as well ..
When we are kids we are taught this & that with regards to food ..
As we get older it is our choice how we deal with it & moreso as adults.
While it may be more difficult ..
Still we are the ones in control about ourselves.
Reminds me of a very old book ..
*Our bodies, OurSelves* .. I think that was the name
Love hearing your thoughts about this :)
