I need a little advice
| Mon, 05-11-2009 - 11:59pm |
Hi I'm new here and not sure if this is the right board or if there is another one for this advice. I am a 34 year old woman, I am 5'4 and weigh about 105. I have always been thin my whole life and have had 4 kids so for sure don't look that thin. My questions are what can I do it seems like I am gaining weight but I'm not. I think its mostly in the tummy area it seems. Not sure if anyone can recommend what I can do to help with this. Like I said not gaining weight but places seem to be getting a little bigger. Should I be doing exercises mostly for problem areas, how much should I exercise. I for sure don't want to lose weight but don't want to get bigger in certain spots.
Any help would be great. Thank you!

Welcome to the board :)
Are you doing any kind of exercising now?
How is your eating ?
It is normal for our bodies to change as we get a bit *mature*
However now would be a great time to exercise & stop it before it gets any worse.
You could start some crunches .. they will help your stomach.
Also there are a few of us that use the hula hoop.
It's more fun to use it than do crunches.
What do you think about that ?
If you're looking for support & accountability .. This would be the place ..
Hope you'll join us here again.
Let u sknow what you decide to do :)
Hi Patience.
I have to agree - Gravity Sucks!
Our bodies change as we grow older,
and it gets harder and harder to them back into place!
I know I have to do lots of cardio to keep burning the fat,
And work hard at my core to give the illusion of a flat stomach
I don't think it will ever look like it did 3 kids (and one C-section) ago.
I like yoga and ::blush:: HipHop abs (yes I got sucked into the commercial, and yes I love it)
to work my middle area,
but many others find good old fashioned crunches and bicycle exercise effective too.
And of course Pilates is very popular for leaning out you center section.
The real key IMHO is to find what you like to do
And then do it regularly - that's what keeps it off,
It's more about consistency than any thing.

Hi, Patience and welcome to Fitness & Health!
It's a common myth that strength training can focus on a specific area.
