Hiya Suzan, I don't know if it's just a smaller gene pool out here but I found most cockers to be very neurotic & easily spooked. At the moment I'm trying to find a springer spaniel breeder 'cos they tend to be a bit stockier & more docile. A friend of mine had a springer/cocker mix & he was the most wonderful dog (could give Bles a run for his money in the adorable category & he was a lot more obedient) though I doubt I'll
I think a lot of young dogs are cautious with kids - wise thing really 'cos kids can be kind of overwhelming & often hurt them without realising. Spaniels are incredibly smart dogs & they love to please their "humans".
