I think I am eating to much...

I have been trying to journal but then we go out to eat. I "think" I am eating a small portion or chose something healthy but I "really' don't know.  So it's the only reason that I can explain why I am not losing.

I have been exercising very well. My buddy called and she is losing weight but not exercising at all. So I am a bit jealous. Happy for her of course but really made me thing It has to be in my food.  Have a great few days then I'll screw it up for Friday night beer or going out to eat. Which throws my journaling off.  We don't normally go out to eat like this but lately with all the sports starting up this spring it's going to be once a week we are going.  I hope that this last week was our anniversary, Mother's Day, and sporting events which is why we ate out so much and no longer will we continue this trend.

I'll eat maybe 800 calories by supper time and then by the evening I have a hard time keeping track due to going out to eat or Friday nights.

What really gets me is that as always this is a reminder that I continue to struggle with food control!!! Which makes me feel like I still have this problem that I "thought" I was controlling. Which makes me feel like how HARD I find eating smaller portions.    It's kind of depressing......I don't want to regain this weight and if I am exercising well but still eating like this to maintain. Did I mention how much I hate exercise! I didn't even want to exercise 5 days a week to maintain. I wanted it to be "formal" exercise 3 days a week w/ just alot of family exercise together like bike riding, hiking, walks etc....

Thanks for listening. Cris

Thanks for your support. I think I was just feeling sorry for myself. I need that push to get back on the wagon with food.

Currently I have some gum in my mouth!! Just today I was full but I kept finding food to eat. I called my buddy and she was able to distract me. thanks again, Cris

Hi there,

Portion control is very important of course but if you are exercising and watching the portions then try to make sure that even though you are watching the portions that what you are eating is low in fat,,

It happens to all of us so don't be too discouraged ..
OK so do you drink that water before you go out or eat meals at home ?
It helps .. use smaller plates.
Put less on your plate ..

You'd be surprised how quickly that bad food adds up calorie-wise...I know when I wasn't tracking my WW points, I was gaining or just maintaining, but now that I started journalling again I realize how bad I was eating.

These things are never easy Chris. Even maintaining is something one must really work at.

Exercising ...I never liked it either, but now I do it everyday and if I do not I find it strange. Nowadays I find it useful in doing house things and helping my swhusband carrying windows. I used to find it harder doing that but by working out my muscles and body, I find it easier now.

Portioning is something one must work at, too. Actually everything is.

It took me 1 yr to get things moving and used to working out and I have to keep changing things differently so my body is not used to doing the same routine. It was not a fast method for me either.

Boy, I hear ya on most of what you said!! Eating out is my downfall too! When I eat out and make the very best choices, take half home with me, etc., I still gain 2 lbs over night! Restaurants put hidden ingredients in their foods.

At home, I don't allow any foods into the house that are not on my healthy eating plan as what I eat is what my husband eats too. I do allow him a small bag of cookies that he keeps hidden in the pantry where I can't see it and I never think about it.

When you said in another reply..."Currently I have some gum in my mouth!! Just today I was full but I kept finding food to eat."...That says that either you're eating for another reason than hunger..or..you're in a bad habit of wanting to eat all the time. Here's some ideas......

When you want something to eat, but aren't hungry, drink water. Or if water doesn't do it for you and you've had enough water during the day, drink something to get your mind off eating.

Drinking one light beer on a Friday night if you've been good the rest of the week,

thanks ladies for all your suggestions, I will definately use them or keep them in mind.

I started something new that I did in the very beginning when I started my journey. I started 6 "small" meals a day again.
