Do YoU Watch the Scale ?

A good idea I believe.
Don't you ?
Let us know :)
Don't Watch the Scale
The scale may not indicate your progress. If you want to measure your progress, go for that pair of jeans that are on the cusp of being too tight. Try them on twice a week, and if they feel snugger, add another 10 minutes of cardio to your routine.

I do both scale and clothes to behave myself. Then I know where I went wrong.
Yes I do 'cos like Donna the weight creeps up unnoticed so weigh daily...
Usually watch it with growing unhappiness though I am hoping with the gym trips the change of shape will make up for any gains or maintains when I want losses...
Thanks for the share Hugs...
I personally think and believe that the scale is our worst enemy. I haven't been on the scale now for at least a good 3.5 months and I do not have that urge to go on it. As you said, I go by my clothes, if they are loose, hooray!!! and if they are snugger than before, it means be more aware.
Donna, sweetheart, weighing yourself everyday, to my opinon is not the greatest idea, as your body is constantly changing, which does not mean that you have put on weight. You can go on the scale now, and be for example 145 and go on it 3 hours later and you can be 146.3 and most probably because you have retained water in those 3 hours, and that is the same with weighing everyday. You will probably get different readings. We can not live our lives around our scales. There is more to life than being obsessed with our weight and scales.
I am not saying that we should not be more aware of what and how much we are eating, because we should be eating healthier and yes we should be exercising and this is all for our health, but......we should not be concentrating stricky on scales, and weight.
So, while being aware of our food intake, etc, we have to concentrate on being happy, healthy and enjoy our lives to the fulliest, even if we are a little over weight. Not talking about being obese, but if we are 5-10 pds over, we will loose it, but lets not be obsessed with this either.
If you want to keep weighing yourself, choose a day, such as Friday mornings at the same time all the time and on the same scale. I know a few years ago, I use to watch very carefully what I ate as well as I worked out. Working in the same medical building as my family doctor I had asked him if I could come in every Friday morning at 8:00am before I started work to be weighed in. Thats what I did and I had something to look forward to at the end of the week.
I was a weigh-in-aholic for many years.
I'd weigh several times a day
Then DS broke my scale and
after the initial withdrawal period I rather liked it.
We got the Wii Fit and I'd weigh myself on that a time or two a week,
Plus at the gym regularly, but the numbers were all over the chart!
I decided to give myself a one month break from the scale
(which lasted 2 weeks - LOL)
I don't define myself by that number any more,
But I still care what it is.
I'm getting better.

Hi Miriam, that is good advice for some people, but not for everyone. I used to follow Weight Watchers years ago and that was what they advised. I did it, gave it a good try for a length of time and found that it's not for me. I gain too easily and have to keep a daily watch..or every 2 or 3 days..all the time. I only weigh first thing in the morning, unclothed, and before eating anything at all. That is my true weight. I never weigh later in the day.
I only eat healthy at home for I don't allow any other foods
I hope Donna that I didn't insult you and anyone else by my opinon. We all have to do what we have to do, and of course what is good for one is not good for some one else.
So Good luck to you and as for taking those walks, perhaps try walking very short distances, perhaps just to the corner of your street if it isn't that long of a walk, or if you have a driveway, maybe you can just walk up and down the driveway until you feel you can not do it anymore.
In any case I am sure you know what is best for you. Take care and (((((((((hugs)))))))))))

I weigh myself every morning once a morning.
