Hi newmadre, Welcoem to the board :) Your pics, babies are absolutely darling! I saw Liz gave you some great ideas .. Do you think they are possible for you to try ? Let's hear what others may suggest as well. Hope you'll come on back & let us know what you found works for you :)
I've tried biking, and that really kills my knees. I do have an elliptical at home. I've doing that 3x/week for about 10 weeks (got to get that baby weight off!), but now my knees are hurting again. I used the elliptical 3-5x week before and during most of my pregnancy, so I'm not sure why they're hurting now. Maybe I'm pushing myself too hard? I took a break this week from the elliptical, and Penny and I went to the park and walked one day. But it's been rainy every other day.
My maternity leave was from Feb. to May, and then I get summer vacation (yeah, teaching!), so I go back at the end of July. I will never in my life have this much free time. If I don't get the weight off now, it's not going to come off. Once school starts, all I think I'll have time for is to maintain, not lose more.
Anyway, thanks for your advice and thanks for all the kind words about Penny. She truly a sweet baby (except while teething, I'm learning)!
You bike like me. I can bike 6 miles in 30 min. I went by a speed monitor one day while biking and it clicked me going 16 mph. When areas are clear for me, I go fast, but careful.
Hi newmadre, Now would be a great time for you to make yourself accountable here then, Lots of support & help with motivation while you have the time off. So you can't even use a stationery bike then ? Hopefully you might be able to get some gentle walking in when the weasther allows. Don't forget to drink lots of water & eat smart too. It all helps & will work in time. Sure hope we'll see you here again :)
I figured out the route I took and walked it and it was a mile which took me 15 min. I biked the route from my house and I took 4 to 5 minutes. Biking back home is another mile and takes me another 4 to 5 minutes. Walking back home would take me another 15 min. I did get one but cannot figure the gadget out, so I do it the other way.
I agree with Liz's suggestions - walking & weight lifting are going to be your best bets - if you start off very slowly, you'll be able to build up your knees and make them stronger.

When I started running outdoor last year, I drove my car around and mapped out the routes so I knew how many miles for each of the different route.

How about using some DVDs at home to do Yoga, Pilates, or Leslie Samsone's Walk Away the Pounds (several different series of DVDs)?

Hi, newmadre2008, and welcome!

Let us know what you decide to do :o)
