As a whole, we are becoming more unhealthy. Apparently fewer and fewer people are living healthy lifestyles despite all the information available. Why is this happening and what can we do about it? Read this latest NeverSayDiet.com blog post and weigh in with your thoughts:

Everyone, gather ‘round! The latest survey about American’s health is out, and the results are (drum roll please)… bad! How could this be? There is more information and opportunity than ever for living a healthy lifestyle. But, are people choosing to ignore the principle rules of five fruits or veggies a day and 30 minutes of exercise three times per week?

I find this sad, very sad indeed :(
Think the adults need to re evaluate their priorites.
Then they can start again so to speak ..
As well as be good role models for their children.
Children learn by seeing as in the home.
Parents can make time to *walk* with their children starting when they are young.
*Play* more with the kids .. get them outside!
Also the schools perhaps could make sure the foods there are healthier.
Serve more fruits & veggies, no soda machines.
One step at a time & there can be progress, small changes add up :)

It seems as a society we are moving away from all things physical.
Those with physically demanding jobs are ridiculed as 2nd class citizens.
Schools are cutting their PE programs in favor of more reading & math.
Success is measured by how many gadgets you have.

And unfortunately the better food choices don't have a long shelf life,
so are less profitable, and becoming less available.

Plus its so much easier to take a pill for what ails you
Then deal with what caused the illness.
Again driven by profits - now you have to pay the doctor,
buy the prescription, visit the pharmacy.
Why would the medical industry want you to simply
clean up your diet and excercise some?

Yes I did just now read this. It is sad to read.
I think the more you tell people, they do not want to hear it.
People will have to start on this on their own, but hopefully not too late.
It took a whole year before my neighbor started walking.
It took me a few years of hints of *do I exercise?* or * I am out of shape*.
I was overweight and glad I did not go further.
I am glad I finally started and now I cannot stop.
Some people in our neighborhood are starting to exercise.
