Boredom and Snacking

I've really been hitting up the snacks and extras alot the past week.  I think it's partly because it's TTOM and partly out of boredom.  I'm going to put together a stack of books I can read, but do any of you have any suggestions for other activities that will keep me out of the kitchen?

Hi Colleen,
Imagine you are not alone ..
When you go to the kitchen .. Before you grab anything to eat ..
First have a huge glass of cold water ..
Also, tell yourself to wait 10 minutes before you decide to grab anything.
Then walk away, go in another room, do something, anything, LOL
See if that deters you a bit ..
In other words put it off as long as possible
Let's see what others suggest as well :)

Hugs had good ideas..she always does..she's so cool!

Other than those, I keep snacks out of the house except for those that will not put weight on...like small cans of tomato juice, olives, raw almonds. Now, I guess I could eat the whole jar of almonds, but they're not *that* good to do that..lol!

A solution if you feel you need to keep snacks in the house for other family members, things that you shouldn't eat...My husband sometimes has his own stash of snacks that I don't eat. He keeps them in a certain place in the pantry closet and I never think of them and don't eat them as they are his. Of course he would share if I

I'm a boredom eater too.

I took up crochet so my hands are busy and I *can't* eat.

I try to get outside and work - water plants, deadhead the annuals, pull weeds.

Sometimes I gather up the kiddos and play a board game,
I'm kinda obsessive so I won't eat while playing - don't want to get the game pieces dirty.

I also turn off the TV - it's like it can be a trigger for boredom eating -
Watching something I'm not even interested in and munching at the same time.

Sometimes gum works - especially bubble gum
I will practice blowing bubbles.

Mostly I just try to wait it out,
I have a drink of water and tell myself if I'm still hungry in 15 min I will have a snack.
Usually it passes, but sometimes I really am hungry and will grab a bite to eat.
