Oh I am so tired of trying to figure out my body. All I want to do is feel better. It is after eleven o'clock at night and I am back up out of bed. Eleven o'clock is late for me. I have been trying to simplify my life and get healthier. One of the healthy steps (or so I thought) was to drink a glass of red wine at night before bed. This is suppose to be healthy for a woman and with the FM, I felt that it would help my muscles relax so that I could sleep better. I started noticing that when I lay down to sleep, I was getting hot. Now not in a good way. And no, it's not the side effects of menopause (night sweats were over a couple of years ago). I first thought, well silly, it's 10 o'clock at night and the temperature is still in the 80's...of course you're hot! Well, no, the air conditioner is on and also a ceiling fan. After tossing, turning and sweating, it occured to me....this happened last time I drank wine...and I think the time before too. So, up I got, came downstairs to turn on the computer and a lamp. After some searching, I found out that wine opens the capillaries (?) and the body cools down, but as it's doing this, it feels like your body temperature is rising because you are sweating (the body's air conditioner). So now the question is, how long does it take to return to normal? I guess I will find out.
Well, so I guess I will put the last of the wine down the drain, since dh doesn't like it. No point in it taking up space in an already too small refrigerator.
Also, a classmate was telling me that it is actually cheaper to buy healthy food. Is that true? I always thought that the cheap food, starchy and carbs filled the tummy fuller and cost less. She says that is is cheaper as long as you don't continue to buy the junk food too...duh....lol. I will have to try that. What bothers me is that I have had appointments with the university nutritionist several times and she knows I am on a student budget. You'd think she would have told me this.
Good news is that we now have health insurance. I have already made an appoinment with a GYN and hope to also get the boodwork done, to get back on the hypothyroid meds. They really help with the FM symptoms, which are the same as the hypothyroid symptoms.
Well, it's been about an hour and a half since the glass of wine. I'm still warm but at least starting to cool down a little. So, I guess it's back to the drawing board on sleep techniques and muscle relaxants (non-prescriptives). But I guess that's what getting healthy is all about....figuring out what works best for you. Thanks for being here.

I read somewhere that Milk does in fact help you get to sleep.
Funny you mentioned margaritas - I can drink tequila all night long with no problem whatsoever.
Wine always upsets my sleep, as does to much vodka.
Weird huh?
Like the idea of not letting DH come shopping - I've been doing it alone all month.
He's amazed at the amount of money I've saved,
And surprised he's not dying of malnutrition without his snacky stuff.
