ok, I've lost some weight(good) gained muscles back(even better) although everything is still buried under flabbiness.(not good) I now work everyday so either it's get up even earlier (I'm NOT a morning person-though I'm trying) or late at night when gym is crowded and humid, then I can't sleep...
This does sound so much like excuses, writing really does help. the point was, when I get to the gym, I just freeze, get insecure and just don't know what to do. And I DO know the machines, etc. I want the concentrate more on strength training, but that section intimidates the H##l out of me by myself... Any tips(like step by step workout) which might help?
I have a few inches to go.. really need to firm up and lose the flab. I want to SEE my muscles
Thanks

Hi CalPearl!
It's not like I don't know my way around the gym, this time a year and a half ago I was a gym rat. My best friend was a trainer. But then she moved - out of the country! And it went downhill from there... sort of.
Anyway, I know it's going to take time but there's also a horrid breakup to deal with, shattered ego, etc. I kindof lost myself.
And now that I don't look the same I don't feel adequate around everyone. Sounds so pathetic...
Sorry
Don't be sorry - you are nowhere near pathetic in my book!
Sounds like you have had quite a year,
And it's gonna take some time to get feeling better.
One thing I have noticed about the gym
Most people are equally as self conscious as you are.
They are so worried someone is staring at them,
they don't have time to criticize some one else.
And, it takes a while, but remember
Those who are busy talking about you
Are the ones whose opinion really doesn't matter anyway.
Could you contact one of your friend's co-workers
And ask them for a quicky session?
Not a full time commitment,
But just enough to remind you of what needs to be done.
I don't know you,
But again I want to say that I think just by being out there
trying to work out makes you a very strong individual.
I'd be willing to bet that most people are applauding you when you make the effort.

Welcome to the board :)
Congratulations on having done so well with losing weight & gaining muscle.
You're on the right track & doing well.
As for the gym ..
Really like some of the ideas that others have shared.
How do you feel about those ?
Hi, Calpearl & welcome!!
Liz gave you a great link for exercises to do.

Thanks to everyone, I so appreciate your help! It's not that I am petrified at the gym, it's really just the free weight area. The guys who stop everyone they are doing and watch. IT's intimidating. When I know what I'm going into the room to do then I'm fine. But most days I really don't have a plan (a workout) to head to. And that's when I lose my nerve, Just sticking with certain things.
I really want to branch out.
Case in point. Last night I DID work out !! 5 stars to me!!!
Started with leg press- my favorite machine on earth. Then I wasn't sure what to do, so I went to the rowing machine for 1/2 hour.
Ended up on the mat in the corner doing some ab work. 45min
Felt good, but like I should have done more... didn't know what- and didn't feel like venturing into guy land.
I really do sound pathetic. I'm not truly. Just insecure as anything.
Overall I always love the gym, It's my therapy,....
This is what I do.
