Has anyone else heard of this? The Belly Project
Women (and sometimes men…you know who you are…) can be obsessed with their bodies. Hair, nails, toes, skin, breasts, hips, eyes, they all get fixated on. But perhaps nothing is as preoccupying to us as our bellies. Our bellies are intimately related our sexuality and to our reproductive lives. It’s a complicated interaction, that confluence of sex and babies.
So it is a blog that has anonymous pictures of women's abdomens. Real Women - no airbrushing, no photoshop, no special lights or make up (and only one tummy tuck).
It made me wonder...........
Would you photograph yourself to display to the world?
Does seeing pictures of *real* people change your perception of what you *should* look like?
How far will you go to get the *perfect* body?
Do you think men have the same hang ups about showing their bellies that women do?

Saw the site Liz.
Wow!!
Would you photograph yourself to display to the world?.....I don't think so. I am very private.
Does seeing pictures of *real* people change your perception of what you *should* look like?....Not really.
How far will you go to get the *perfect*
Hiya Liz,
Well I haven't seen the site but if I could get my tummy to look like one I saw on tv last night (local drama so doubt there was much airbrushing involved) well I'd be loud & proud & show it to the world...
Nope, never heard of the Belly Project
Would you photograph yourself to display to the world? No
Does seeing pictures of *real* people change your perception of what you *should* look like? No and my question here would be "*should* by whoose standards?", don't like that word *should* it tends to be a bad word of sorts imho..................okay getting off my soap box now. *wink*
How far will you go to get the *perfect*
Would you photograph yourself to display to the world? No way
Does seeing pictures of *real* people change your perception of what you *should* look like? Yes and no....I know 6 packs are rare..but I put so much pressure on myself..it's ridiculous.
How far will you go to get the *perfect*
Would you photograph yourself to display to the world?
No way, never!
Does seeing pictures of *real* people change your perception of what you *should* look like?
No not at all
That is a very special kind of self-love.
By making yourself the best *you* you can be,
You inspire others to just work their hardest and enjoy the result.
Thanks for being such a good role model for us.

I agree on no perfect body.
At least not naturally appearing like what we see in magazines or on TV
but, it has taken years of *experience* to not try to live up to that standard.
And it seem like now, more than ever,
the media is pushing an unrealistic ideal of what bellies look like.
I wish that more than one body type was shown in the media,
To me all the press goes to girls who look the same from the neck down.
And if they do vary, there is some kind of disclaimer about them
(Like Queen Latifa or Jennifer Hudson -
A pretty girl, great gown, looks good, but....)
I admire you for know that who you are matters most.
And I hope that I can instill that kind of confidence in my DD.
Thanks for your input Gail

Wow..that was pretty amazing.
Would you photograph yourself to display to the world? anonymously, maybe, or if I thought I looked good
Does seeing pictures of *real* people change your perception of what you *should* look like? that site made me feel a bit better, I'd just like to be the best 'me' I can be
How far will you go to get the *perfect* body? working out, eating healthy is enough-I don't think I'd consider plastic surgery as a personal option
Do you think men have the same hang ups about showing their bellies that women do? Some maybe. Sometimes I know DH feels self conscious. He's lost weight too and now says he's confident enough to walk around without a shirt. In general though I think it's more acceptable for a man to have the 'beer belly'.
